Product Review: Puma Powercat 1.10 Tricks FG Shoes
Before trying out Puma’s PowerCat 1.10 cleats, I had only ever used cheap cleats to play football. They were functional and quite inexpensive- and thus got the job done without much fuss. However, I had long been wondering how big a difference a true pair of cleats would make. When offered to try out these cleats from SoccerPro.com, I jumped at the opportunity and found the answer to that long asked question of, what if?
First off, the step-up in quality was immediately noticeable, from the moment the box arrived on the doorstep. The Puma PowerCat 1.10 are shipped in a zippered plastic case with a handle for convenient storage, as well as with a free standard size 5 ball. After unzipping the package, I noticed immediately that the boot was of a far superior class than any I had tried before. The boots palpably slick and smooth, with a high-quality gloss that reflected the overall excellent quality of the boot. The colors may not be for everyone, orange and yellow likely appeal most to Roma fans or those with penchants for visually striking apparel, but up close the boots are not as gaudy as they first appear in the advertising imagery.
Overall, this boots oozed class from start to finish and I couldn’t wait to try them on the pitch.
A New Beginning - A quality fit and feel
During actual trials, the high quality PowerCats make nearly every aspect of the game easier. Passing was crisper and quick, with each touch feeling exactly as I thought it should be. With lower quality boots, you have less handling ability, and greater difficulty in ball control and I often felt as if my feet and boot were working against each other. These Pumas however seemed to enhance my every thought and truly help my ability to show.
Off-center lacing truly enable great contact with the ball. Without worrying about the effects that the laces may have on a kick, I noticed an immediate difference in free kicks and set pieces. The ball was played more exactly into each position that I kicked it, and not adversely affected by laces as is sometimes the case on other boots.
Finally, the studs themselves proved to be quite serviceable. Although not removable, they were of an incredibly sturdy build and helped me to keep my footing on everything from muddy grass pitches to dry artificial turf.
Overall, the best games of football I have ever played have been with these boots. It feels as if my feet have been liberated and enhanced in nearly every aspect. I’m far from the total footballer or even a great player but without a doubt, the boots have helped my talent to show immensely. I still have the occasional poor touch and awful pass, but I know now that those are from my own misjudgments and have little to do with the cleats, if anything.
In a word, using these Pumas has been a dream. Proper cleats are truly the only way to really play with precision and speed, and these are fantastic mid-level boots that are quite affordable as well. More expensive boots may surely be even more effective, further adjusting spin and power, but for those looking for solid boots that won’t break the bank, look no further. These receive my highest recommendation and are worth the price.
