Hectic January Transfer Window For Italian Serie A
Carlos Tevez
The Argentinean forward has been heavily linked with a loan move to AC Milan this January. Having fallen out with Manchester City, he is currently on strike, back home in Argentina.
Milan will look to secure him on a loan deal with an agreed fee to be paid in June; similar to the deal struck for Ibrahimovic in 2009.
It is doubtful that Manchester City will be willing to let him go on loan. They wish to be compensated for a player who cost them in the region of £40m.
Milan insist they will not pay a transfer fee for the player, so expect this saga to continue throughout January.
Chances: 7/10.
Marco Borriello
The Italian hit-man has been linked with both Marseille and Juventus.
Currently warming Roma’s substitute bench, or a seat in the stand; he will want to secure regular playing time in his bid to make the Italian squad for Euro 2012.
Marseille have agreed a 6 month loan with Roma, paying €1m upfront and then a further €7.5m in June to make it permanent.
Juventus may make a last ditch attempt to hijack the deal. They need cover for the attack and Borriello would link up well with Quagliarella and Matri.
Chances: - to Marseille: 8/10
- to Juventus: 4/10.
Eduardo Vargas
Napoli have agreed a fee for Chilean starlet, Eduardo Vargas, worth €12m. The forward is seen as a long-term replacement for Edinson Cavani.
Vargas said: “I will complete the transfer to Napoli in the first days of January. I am happy to come to Italy, as they play a spectacular style of football there.”
Napoli have fought off competition from a number of European clubs, including Internazionale and Chelsea. Vargas said: “I never thought of going anywhere else. I am happy and at the same time impatient to join Napoli.”
Chances: 9/10.
Martin Caceres
Loan deals are all the rage at this time of year. Juventus are looking to sign former defender, Caceres, on loan from Seville. He previously played for the Bianconeri two years ago, but they were priced out of a deal.
This time, Antonio Conte, wishes to strengthen his defence and Caceres would be a suitable addition. A €3m loan fee, with €7m paid in June could see the Uruguayan return to the Peninsula.
Chances: 5/10.
