Inter and Palermo shared eight goals in a 4-4 thriller where Diego Milito netted all four for Inter at the San Siro. Roma’s defence needs to be looked at as they were humiliated away at Cagliari. Lazio overcame AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico and the weather managed to play its part as four games were called off due to the big freeze.

Tuesday 31st January

The game between Parma and Juventus was called off around an hour before kick-off due to poor weather conditions.

Wednesday 1st February

Three more games were called off on Wednesday including Atalanta-Genoa, Bologna-Fiorentina and Siena-Catania.

Napoli’s inconsistent form continued as they were held at home 0-0 by relegation strugglers Cesena.

Udinese managed to overcome Lecce at home thanks to a brilliant start from new signing Michele Pazienza. David Di Michele got the equaliser just before the half hour. Captain fanstastic, Antonio Di Natale, then got the winner for the Zebrette as he struck home with ten minutes remaining in the first half.

Lazio dented AC Milan’s title hopes as they beat Max Allegri’s men 2-0. Goals in the second half from Hernanes and veteran Tommaso Rocchi secured all three points for l’aquile

Luis Enrique’s Roma were disappointing as they were beaten 4-2 away at Cagliari. Thiago Ribeiro gave the home side the lead with an absolute screamer from around twenty-five yards. Roma hit back thanks to goals from Juan and Fabio Borini before new Cagliari signing, Mauricio Pinilla, equalised just before half time. Thiago Ribero made it 3-2 for the home side when he broke the offside trap to claim his second strike of the night. Deep into stoppage time the home side claimed their fourth of the night to all but seal an unlikely win when Victor Ibarbo waltzed past the Roma defence to assist Albin Ekdal who scored from close range.

The best match of the midweek fixtures took place at an icy San Siro where Inter played host to Palermo. It was a classic encounter the teams shared eights goals evenly between them. Andrea Mantovani gave Palermo the lead early on in the game before Diego Milito equalised five minutes later. Just after half time Fabrizio Miccoli got his first of what would be three goals on the night. Two goals from Diego Milito restored the lead of the home side but Palermo again responded through Fabrizio Miccoli who netted his second. Incredibly, Milito then claimed a fourth but Claudio Ranieri’s men again let themselves down as they allowed Fabrizio Miccoli to complete his hat-trick and ensure a point for the Sicilians.

Thursday 2nd February

The last game of the week took place on Novara’s artificial turf where the relegation battlers were again defeated for the fifth time in a row at home. Sergio Pelissier gave the away side the lead after the half hour before Cyril Thereau added a second with a wonderfully worked team goal with twelve minutes remaining. Novara made a game of it just a minute later when Giuseppe Mascara scored with a deflected effort. But in the remaining time Novara could not find the equaliser as the Flying Donkeys flew home with a three points.
