Turin Tornado Watch When Torino Play Juventus

Contrasting fortunes between the Turin sides see hosts Torino looking for valuable points to help their chances of survival while Juventus could possibly wrap up the Serie A title with a win if other results go their way this weekend.

Torino came so close to a valuable point last weekend at Fiorentina when they made a remarkable comeback from 3-0 down to draw level only to then lose 4-3 as La Viola grabbed a later winner. The hosts have a few players missing for the Derby della Mole as midfielder Matteo Brighi is injured while Matteo Darmian and Giuseppe Vives are both suspended.

Juventus meanwhile had better luck last weekend as they beat Milan 1-0 at Juventus Stadium thanks to a penalty from Arturo Vidal. The visitors have no new injury or suspension worries ahead of the game and coach Antonio Conte looks set to continue with the 3-5-1-1 formation that has worked so well in recent weeks with Claudio Marchisio continuing to support Mirko Vucinic in attack.

As usual with the Derby della Mole Torino will go in as underdogs but with plenty to fight as they look to retain their Serie A status for next season, hovering just above the relegation zone seven points clear of Palermo. Juventus meanwhile go into the match knowing second place Napoli have prolonged their wait to be crowned scudetto winners at least one additional matchday by defeating Pescara with a scoreline of 3-0 early Saturday.

While both sides have something to play for when you take into consideration Juve’s dominance in the league this year winning the first derby earlier in the season and the fact Torino haven’t beaten their city rivals in almost 20 years. On top of this Conte’s men could have the chance to wrap up the title it is hard to see anything other than a Juventus victory but as this week’s Champions League matches have shown us anything can happen in football.
